Gurīn Energy, NAVER Partner on Clean Energy for AI Infrastructure

Partnership combines long-term renewable energy procurement with strategic investment to support South Korea’s energy transition and digital economy.

Seoul, Wednesday, 16 September 2026 – Leading Asian renewable energy developer Gurīn Energy today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NAVER, South Korea’s leading internet and technology platform company.

Under the MoU, NAVER will acquire a stake in Gurīn Energy’s Jindo Green Solar project and enter into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) to purchase the renewable electricity generated by the solar farm.

The project will help NAVER secure a stable supply of clean electricity for its AI and cloud infrastructure, including its GAK Sejong and GAK Chuncheon data centres.

Jindo Green Solar is being developed by Gurīn Energy on Jindo Island, part of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City. Gurīn Energy will continue to lead project development and day-to-day management activities. Earlier this year, the project completed the Electricity Business Licence (EBL) approval process, securing 216MW of licensed capacity and reaching a major development milestone.

The agreement brings together one of South Korea’s largest and most influential technology companies and one of Asia’s leading renewable energy developers as partners in powering South Korea’s next generation of AI, cloud and digital infrastructure.

South Korea has set ambitious decarbonisation goals, including achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, while expanding renewable energy deployment to achieve 100 GW in installed capacity by 2030. Renewable energy is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting the country’s industrial competitiveness, as South Korea focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), cloud and digital infrastructure sectors as strategic areas for economic growth.
